A Conversation with Paola Balla

Paola is a Melbourne-based artist of the Wemba-Wemba and Gunditjmara peoples and is also of Italian and Chinese heritage. Paola’s work is currently on show at Tandanya through her solo
exhibition Kalina Yaryin (to love my sisters), which concludes on 10 February.

Paola’s work addresses impacts of colonial trauma (particularly on women and children), forming spaces of ownership and listening through creative practice. Paola’s visual art is intimate; through familial and individual exploration, she turns her lens upon her immediate world and personal history.
