The CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services is offered by the People Development Unit at Nunkuwarrin Yunti of South Australia Inc. The course reflects the role of entry level community services workers who provide support to individuals through the provision of person centred services.
This qualification has been developed in the Aboriginal context to ensure that all members of the workforce are trained with the same knowledge and skills whether they are Aboriginal or non-Aboriginal. The focus will be on nationally recognised, evidence-based and industry relevant training in front line alcohol and other drug (AOD) work. This training program requires participants to be currently working with, for, or in Aboriginal communities and to undertake the assessment activities within the workplace, bringing knowledge, confidence and skills directly into the workplace. Participants will be supported by a workplace supervisor and it is this unique combination of training and assessment methods that supports positive outcomes for participants and their clients.
Participants will learn about working in community services, specifically working in AOD and Mental Health providing first point of contact services to people who may be facing crisis situations. It also covers safe work practices and worker self-care. Each model taught is a best-practice mainstream model adapted to be culturally relevant. All teaching is culturally appropriate and respects the knowledge and skills students currently have by encouraging them to explore and share their own experiences.« Go back
